ICL Implants

Eye Care Specialists Serving Bend, OR
and Surrounding Areas

At Infocus Eye Care in Bend, Oregon, we provide the EVO ICL (Implantable Collamer Lens) for patients seeking independence from glasses and contact lenses.  This procedure offers an alternative to laser vision correction (LASIK and PRK).

What is EVO ICL?

ICL or Implantable Collamer Lens is an implantable lens that can correct your vision.  It can be used to treat moderate to severe levels of myopia (aka nearsightedness) with or without astigmatism.  The ICL can even be performed for patients who may not be good candidates for LASIK.

The Implantable Collamer® Lens (ICL) is a soft, flexible lens that is surgically placed inside your eye—behind the iris and in front of your natural lens.  Unlike LASIK and PRK, it doesn’t involve reshaping your cornea so it can be used for people that have been told they are not a good candidate for LASIK or PRK.

ICLs are made from a biocompatible material called Collamer®, which works in harmony with your natural eye chemistry to improve vision with long-lasting results.

Is EVO ICL right for you?

You may be a good candidate for ICL if:

  • You're between 21–45 years old

  • You have moderate to severe nearsightedness (with or without astigmatism)

  • You’re not eligible for LASIK or prefer a non-permanent solution

  • Your vision has been stable for at least a year

EVO ICL may be recommended over LASIK or PRK for several reasons:

  • Your cornea is too thin for laser vision correction

  • The shape of your cornea is not suitable for laser vision correction

  • You have a high prescription that requires a high level of correction

  • Dry Eye concerns

What is the procedure like?

The procedure for the Implantable Collamer lens is fairly quick and simple.  It is a minimally invasive procedure that involves only inserting the lens.  The procedure is completely reversible if needed.

ICL surgery usually takes around 15 to 30 minutes per eye and is done at the Bend Surgery Center with our experienced eye team. During your procedure we do everything to ensure you feel safe and comfortable.

Recovery after the procedure is relatively quick.  Most patients experience improved vision within a few days.  Minor discomfort may be present initially, but this typically improves very quickly.
