Dr. Emily Karben grew up in Seattle, Washington and attended the University of Washington where she studied psychology, economics and organic chemistry. Prior to optometry school, she worked on a genetic research study diagnosing children with autism spectrum disorders. Dr. Karben completed her internships at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, Florida, the Bend Veterans Outpatient Clinic and Pacific Cataract and Laser Institute in Portland, Oregon.
During these internships, Dr. Karben was able to gain valuable experience in managing ocular diseases along with pre and post-operative surgical care. She graduated with honors from Pacific University. After optometry school, she completed a residency in 2016 at the Portland Veterans Hospital where she practiced comprehensive and preventative eye care.
Dr. Karben lives in the Bend area with her husband and fellow optometrist, Dr. Brock Karben. They enjoy exploring the great outdoors, love their rescue cat Pebbles and recently welcomed their second child. Dr. Karben is thrilled to be a part of the wonderful team at InFocus and is now accepting new patients.
